Fertility for Mind and Body
Source is an 8-week mind-body program for women who are experiencing infertility or recurrent miscarriages. We incorporate Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction techniques, emotional management, and group support to help provide an optimal physiological, mental and emotional foundation for conception.
According to research studies conducted by Alice Domar, Ph.D., founder of Mind/Body Center for Women at Boston IVF and author of Conquering Infertility:
- 55% of women who participated in a mind/body support group for infertility conceived pregnancies that resulted in a baby, compared with only 20% of the control group
- Alleviating depression and other psychological distress increases pregnancy rates in women who are struggling with infertility
- Women can take an active role in reducing their depression and anxiety by implementing mind/body strategies
Source is facilitated by Elana Sures, a Registered Clinical Counsellor who specializes in infertility, & Dr. Alda Ngo from Acubalance Wellness Centre, who practices Traditional Chinese Medicine specializing in infertility. Here are some examples of what we will explore in this group:
- How to intercept constant worrying and negative thoughts.
- Emotional management techniques for feelings such as anxiety, depression, grief and anger.
- Mind/body relaxation training to assist you when waiting for test results, getting through medical procedures, and general tension
- Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques such as acupressure, diet lifestyle, & chi gong to help optimize fertility.
- Yoga poses tailored specifically to enhance fertility, taught by a Registered Yoga Therapist.
