How do you know if I’m the right counselor for you?

If you are considering seeking counselling but feel awkward or unsure of what to expect, let me tell you about how I will work with you.

First, I spend quite a bit of time getting to know you, and understanding the current circumstances in your life, as well as the path you’ve walked that has brought you to where you are now. My warmth and honesty enable me to create a therapeutic environment in which you can feel comfortable discussing extremely personal issues.

You will find that I am a straightforward and sometimes direct therapist. Sometimes I will challenge you to look more closely at a certain pattern, but I will always do so with respect. I believe that the change process is accelerated when we can make contact with emotions that might seem unpleasant or unwanted; however, I will always allow you to go there at your own pace.

By reviewing your upbringing and early experiences in life, we can identify the roots of emotional and relational patterns that you would like to work on in your life right now.

Through counselling we can zone in on recurring themes in the issues you struggle with, and develop effective ways to free yourself from repeating these patterns.
