Elana Sures, M.Ed, RCC

I have over fifteen years of experience as a clinical counsellor, and in that time I have seen hundreds of clients, both for brief and long term therapy. I have been in private practice since 2006, and have worked as a clinical counsellor with Vancouver Coastal Health and other community agencies since 2000. In addition to receiving a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, I have extensive training in the following modalities:

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
  • Interpersonal Psychotherapy
  • Mindfulness-based psychotherapies
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
  • Neurobiology (optimizing the brain's capacity to adapt to stress and regulate emotions)

In my career I have had the opportunity to work with clients in both private private practice and public health (mental health and addictions). This has provided me with a very rich range of experience, and exposed me to the various angles of how and why people struggle. While I am able to effectively work with a wide range of issues, over the years I have developed particular expertise addressing the following themes (click on each item to learn more about how I work with this issue):

I am a member in good standing of the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am a registered provider with the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP).
